Peritoneal Dialysis workshops and Continuing medical education programme (CME)

A child with sudden onset of kidney shut down can be very well stabilised by doing bedside peritoneal dialysis. It’s an easy to learn procedure and can help in saving lives of children with acute kidney injury. With the aim to train pediatricians in the outskirts of Maharashtra, ‘PD for PeDiatricians’ workshops were conducted in districts since 2014. At each centre, 4-5 members from our foundation would conduct a half day CME along with the workshop

The peritoneal dialysis video has been uploaded on YouTube by Dr. Pankaj Bhansali.

Hub and spoke program [ECHO-Kidney Foundation for Children Online Community Clinic (ECHO-KFCoCC)]

The Kidney Foundation for Children with the ECHO Foundation inaugurated the hub and spoke program on 11th March, 2021 on the occasion of World Kidney Day. This program was run on the Zoom platform twice a month on Thursdays from 3.00 -4.30pm. Different medical colleges from Maharashtra along with the private pediatricians working in peripheries were identified as spokes.

As per the Project ECHO model, each session consisted of a case presentation by one of the spokes with an interactive discussion with other spokes and the subject matter experts. This was followed by a 10-15 minute didactic lecture on the following topics by a subject expert.
