2. Strategies for achieving equitable health care

Dr Uma Ali ( Founder member of  KFC, Senior Pediatric Nephrologist and Scientific Incharge of ISPNCON 2022) and Dr Arpana Iyenger ( Senior Pediatric Nephrologist, St John’s Hospital, Bangalore) moderated this session and Dr Priya Pais ( Pediatric Nephrologist- St John’s Hospital, Bangalore) , Dr Valerie Luyckx ( Pediatric Nephrologist- Switzerland) and Dr Jyoti Sharma ( Senior Pediatric Nephrologist- KEM Hospital, Pune & member of KFC) were the panelists.

This panel deliberated on the various approaches that could be considered in improving the existing available kidney care to the children with kidney diseases at a national and at a global level. This needs collaboration at national and international level and formulating better health care policies that will help in offering better pediatric kidney care. This requires creating opportunities for training the young medical professionals and sensitizing them regarding the correct diagnosis and basic management of kidney disease in children; sensitizing the local government bodies regarding the serious lack of basic health care related infrastructure needed for offering optimum and equitable care to children with kidney disease.
